It barely lasted three days with my son’s nearly 45 lb pup. Granted, she’s a spirited, untrained pup, but the retraction mechanism couldn’t handle her energy.While the leash itself is sturdy, and the handle feels great, the retraction part fell short. I wouldn’t recommend it for bigger dogs, especially if they tend to pull. Maybe suitable for smaller, well-behaved pets, but I wouldn’t push the limits here. Proceed with caution and keep a tight leash on those expectations!
Excellent dog leash. Our previous retractable dog leash started fraying and jamming after about 6 months of use. We needed a new one so I did some research and found this to be a reputable high quality brand. Have used the leash for a few days now and it seems to be performing better than our old leash. It does not jam at all, it retracts much quicker, and is tangle free. The size of the handle is perfect and fits snuggly in my hand. We will see how it holds out overtime, but so far so good! I highly recommend this leash!
Good, solid dog leash. I ordered this leash to go with my dog’s purple collar. The leash differs slightly in color from the collar which was a bit of a disappointment since they were purchased together. However, this is not a deal breaker just an irritant. The leash is quite serviceable; it is well made of sturdy material which thus far has not ripped, developed loose threads, or come apart where sewn. The stitches are uniform and have remained intact. Being stitched with reflective thread is a bonus; when I first saw it in the dark I was quite surprised how bright the reflection was. The loop on the end fits easily around the hand/wrist with room to spare. I appreciate the fact that the hardware utilized is metal and not a plastic substitute. We have received many compliments about the matching collar and leash. All in all, a good purchase which I would make again if need be.I do not think I am able to recommend for any particular breed of dog, but I do not see why this would leash would not be useful for just about any breed of dog. My dog is a 4 year old rescue Doberman weighing in at almost 70lbs. He was not leash trained when we first got him so he pulled a great deal. The leash held up to his pulling and never gave me any reason to doubt the security of the construction of the leash. With a harness and training he walks very well now on this same leash. Bright reflecting thread, nice quality. 4 months in: Happy with this bright, reflective leash! Slightly longer than standard, great for extra-large beasties. Padded handles are holding up great. Traffic handle is perfectly positioned to balance firm control w/ smidge of wiggle room. Love the handy D ring at the top, quality clasp worked fine in sub-zero temps. Dark brown color has not started to fade as expected. Overall, excellent value. You’re not paying for, or getting, the top-tier, heaviest-duty nylon, but this is very serviceable mid-grade, holding up solidly on a muscular, rambunctious 75# pup through age 2 yrs.
Good product, just too small. I purchased the XS retractable leash for my 10 lb Papillion/Dachshund mix. The quality is good, price was great & the pink color is really cute. The Pros: It’s compact, lite weight, & durable. It uses a round leash line, instead of the flat ribbon version. The ribbon version twists & gets caught up when it reels back in. The round version works much smoother & never binds up. The Cons: The length of the leash line is about 5-6 feet. Not much longer then a standard nylon leash. Which kinda of negates the purpose of using a retractable leash. Secondly, it’s soo small that I can only fit three fingers into the handle grip, instead of all four which gives you a better more comfortable grip. The first time I used this leash was quite traumatic. Luckily we just left the house & were in my front yard, plus we didn’t expect the line to be so short. As soon as she ran out & the leash extended out its total 6 feet it jerked her back & because neither of us expected that she kept running & snatched the leash right out of my uncomfortable three finger grip. The leash hit the ground, retracted itself along the ride & flew up & hit her in the butt. Luckily she stopped but was standing like a deer in the middle of the road. I was able to approach her & scoop her up before any cars came along. Luckily a happy ending. My dog is a rescue dog & unfortunately she had a long, abusive life before coming to live with me. So these lil normal events to most are fearful reminders of her past. Needless to say I returned this leash, got a full refund & learned some valuable lessons. Read product descriptions thoroughly & test everything out before using it on her. Overall this is a good product. If you have a teeny tiny dog that you want on a short leash & you have tiny hands.

This thing is amazing and works well. Surprised at how well it’s held up over a couple of months. So I spent almost a year on a regular leash with my dog, a maltipoo type mix (not 100% sure we got her from a rescue). On a regular leash she’s been fine but we let her sniff where she wants and don’t expect her to be leash obedient like a big working dog. She can pretty much do what she wants as she gets enjoyment out of sniffing the neighborhood.We finally decided to get one of these retractable leashes that dog trainers hate. It’s been seriously the best thing. My dog doesn’t run everywhere out of control. But now she can go that extra distance easily to smell that bush or that patch of grass that was out of reach before. The lock is quick and secure so far. There’s an attachment to carry your poop bags that I also love – before I clipped on the free holder that comes with the Amazon bags and it would flop around on my leash all the time and be annoying. The built in bag holder accessory is awesome, no more floppy floppy bang bang.Now if you’ve ever bought a cheap measuring tape you know the retracting mechanism dies very quickly in a poorly made product. I’m amazed at how solid this one feels and how smooth it is. Granted it’s only been a few months but measuring tapes die within a few weeks if they are cheap. This thing feels like it’s going to last a while and a lot of reviews seem to confirm that. This is a nicely made product, not a cheaply made knockoff.In any case – for a small dog that doesn’t pull and run everywhere this thing is awesome. Walks are easier, my dog has a much wider space to explore and when necessary I can quickly stop her movement.
Not a sturdy retractable. This retractable leash wasn’t as I expected. It’s very lightweight and flimsy. The leash itself is very thin. The accessories were kind of cute the water bowl and the doggy bag tote. It would be OK if you have a small dog that does not pull on its leash much otherwise you might look at a larger size, and sturdier one
The BEST leash for cats. The Flexi classic cord leash is absolutely the best for cats. The cord tension isn’t too strong for cats, but the leash is secure and responsive! I have harness-trained all my cats and this leash is the only one that never disappoints. The 16 foot extension allows cats the freedom to chase bugs and such without getting out of control. The tension lock allows for perfect control while crossing streets or encountering other pedestrians (human, feline, or canine). The retractable cord allows just the right amount of tension while permitting agility, and doesn’t get snarled. As far as I am concerned, this is the ONLY good leash for cats, and it’s a great value and quite durable, too.
Strong yet lightweight. I wanted a lighter (weight) leash to go with a Gentle Leader collar so there would be less pull on the collar. This is perfect. I held back a star because I wish the clasp was a little sturdier.
Great so far. I was surprised at the quality of the collar, didn’t feel flimsy at all. The clasp felt sturdy too.Fit my dog great and I like that there is some tolerance so it could be loosened or tightened as you see fit.I am yet to test it so I can’t comment on its strength or durability. Additionally, my dog hasn’t really had it on for long so we’ll see if the fabric part starts unravelling or if the loop or clasp breaks with his general dog behaviour.My dog seems to like it. He outgrew his previous one and seems very happy and comfortable so far.

Great for close walking. I have a 1 yr old pup and am training him to walk closely to me. This leash is perfect as he cant get more than an arm and a half length away or if i have to reel him in for any reason, if that makes sense. Its durabke, has been muddied up and cleaned well with no tearing or comming apart at the sewn seams. Color is great, and it rolls up small enough to not be a mess in the car when traveling. The extra D ring lets me hang poo bags and a foldable water dish with ease for our walks.
Great leashes. I’m on probably my 5th or 6th of these leashes in probably 12 or so years. I used one in the past for a 120lb male hound dog and now use 2 of them for my 80lb female labs. They hold up really nicely and are very secure when the dogs pull. Over a few years, the retractable leash got a little smelly and that is why is replaced them. I love how they can lock at certain lengths since there is a rural road nearby so I lock them at 3-4ft when a car is coming. I don’t usually leave reviews but I highly recommend these. Enjoy your pups!
Great leash. I bought this to walk my 85 lb lab and love the extra handle on it to hold her closer when I need to. The leash is very sturdy, comfortable to hold on long walks, and a vibrant purple.
Durability. This is perfect for very strong terrier, trying to train to not pull… I know good luck! My puppy, loves to be active and today we hiked a bit through local trails, Maine. This was say to use and comfortable for my hand, recovering fr9m surgery in March full broken wrist. This is a great leash, great color, sold clasp and love the comfort material, easy to dry.

Wow! Great Value, Excellent Product. The Joytale Dog Lease for Large Dogs is a excellent product and a great value! We put it to work right away. The materials are top quality. I purchased the 1 inch width. The handel is padded, which is comfortable. It has another padded handle about a foot our from the clip. This is very handy when I feel I need to have more control of my dog in certain situations. I am dealing w/a big puppy at the moment in very early stages of training. One of the best features is the double stiching. It glowes in the dark which is a huge saftey feature. I bought it in purple. It is very easy to use and I feel very substantial. Would buy again.
