Powerful and Reliable Jump Starter – Saved My ATV in an Emergency. The NOCO Boost Plus GB40 is a lifesaver! I needed it urgently after my ATV got stuck in the mud, and I couldn’t use the winch because the battery was dead. As soon as I received my order, I put it to use, and it immediately boosted my battery. The ATV started right up without any issues—this jump starter packs some serious power! It’s compact, easy to use, and provides a reliable solution for battery issues. The build quality feels solid, and the 1000A capacity is more than enough to handle my ATV. This is now a must-have item for any off-road or emergency situation. If you're looking for a powerful, dependable jump starter, I highly recommend the NOCO GB40—it’s a great investment for peace of mind!
Works on my C-Max. I was a little nervous to try to jumpstart my car on my own, but I was tired of calling roadside assistance every time I left my car unused for a few too many days. I have a little Ford C-Max Hybrid so I was worried jumpstarting it might harm the electric battery somehow.I’ve used it a few times now and I works really well. One annoying thing though is that auto-safety never deactivates when I connect my car, so I have to manual override it, which makes me scared every time haha. Other was it works as expected. I always have it in my car ready just in case. It doesn’t take up much space, and hold its charge for a really long time. The instructions are clear and the jumpstart is very fast.
This one is pricey, but worth the piece of mind. I wasn't sure I wanted to spend $100 on a jump starter that I may never need. But when it arrived and I started getting familiar with it, I was genuinely glad I'd spent the money. I just got my new Tacoma and spent four days in the woods with my wife. I hadn't bought this unit yet and was super-conscious of how long the lights were on, how much juice we were using. Because we had gone out there alone and hadn't seen any other travelers for hours. Getting stranded out of cell range for a considerable amount of time had me pretty anxious. I vowed to get this unit once we got back. Now that I have it and can see the quality of the wiring, the durability of the unit and the ease of use, I'm fully prepared to recommend this to everyone. I haven't actually used it yet, but if the initial quality is any indicator, it is going to do the job just fine. What I also like that I wasn't aware of is that it also has a USB output. So if my Jackery and back-up batteries for my gear run out, this unit can be used as a power source as well. I love any gear that has multiple uses. Overall, this is a great product.
NOCO Boost Plus GB40. The NOCO Boost Plus GB40 is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Now, three more members of my family have one. I purchased one for my motorcycle since sometimes I don’t ride for a while due to travel or weather. This gives me peace of mind knowing I can start the motorcycle no matter what. I once had to use it when commuting from work because I didn’t notice I had left the flashlights on all day. Eventually, I ended up getting a GENIUS5, also from NOCO, to keep my battery charged. Since then, I haven’t used the GB40, but I still keep it in my pannier, charged just in case.I was so happy with the GB40 that I recommended it to a family member. They got it and, fortunately, didn’t need to use it. Then, on a recent trip to visit them, one of their cars had been parked for a couple of days with some lights turned on. The battery was completely dead, showing less than a Volt on a multimeter. Of course, the NOCO starter didn’t recognize the battery as it was too low. We used the boost mode and were able to start the car with no issues. My family was so happy with the result that they bought two more to have one in each car. What I like:It has safety checks to prevent sparks, shorts, and reverse polarity (this also detects the voltage on the battery, which means if the battery has very low charge, it will fail to start in the normal mode). The boost mode disables all safety checks and works similarly to using cables from one car to another. This is a bit risky and you don’t want to use it often, but when you need it, it’s a relief to have. The cables are short and seem of good quality. The crocodile clamps have a firm grip without damaging battery connectors. It’s not bulky; I keep mine in one of the motorcycle panniers and it doesn’t take up much space. I probably should have bought the GB20, which also has the boost mode but is cheaper, and for a motorcycle would be more than enough. However, I vaguely remember it was not available when I got mine. I don’t regret it, though, as the GB40 can start a motorcycle (even a car) several times before needing to be charged again. You can use it as a lamp or emergency light, and also as a power bank for your phone or any other small device. What I don’t like:Storing it in the provided bag works but feels a bit messy. Other models, such as the GB70, can accommodate the clamps on the starter, which seems much cleaner. There is a case you can buy, but that will consume space, which, in my case using a motorcycle, is not much of an option. The boost mode is not really a boost, just a safety-disabled mode. I don’t like when companies use misleading names just to have a selling point.About the specs:I have no way to verify the claimed specs in the description, such as the 1000 Amps of discharge, but from a user’s perspective, it works with cars and motorcycles with no issues, even with flat dead batteries. In conclusion, I think this is a must-have. Hopefully, you don’t need to use it, but like insurance, you’ll be really happy to have it if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need it.
Battery Leads are very short. I would love to give this 5-stars, and I would if I were only reviewing its performance.Overall, this product does exactly what is says it will do. The quality is good, its sturdy, and the carrying pouch is just OK (Hate the pouch). However, the battery leads are too short for some applications. If you are connecting this to a battery with easy access you are golden. One of the uses I have is to occasionally jump start a 5K generator and the battery is not easily accessible. Do not misunderstand me, I can connect the cables from this unit to the generator battery terminals. But the cable is so short it is difficult to plug the cable into the jump starter. What I end up doing is first connect the cable to the battery, then get the jump starter close enough to plug the cable into it. Next comes a little balancing act, as if I do not hold it in place the cable will drop out of the jump starter.I have a few NOCO products, and they all work well. Big fan!But come on NOCO, for applications like mine the short cable is infuriating. An extra couple of inches of cable would make this jump starter perfect.Last thing:Battery Cable - Too shortJump Starter - works great, compact, easily stored, ruggedStorage Bag - Hate it! will be putting into a small caseMy Use Cases - Jump Generator, Jump Started a 2022 Chevy Truck with 5.7L V-8, Jump Started stranded car
