Fountain is great – app is improving. Update 2:Petlibro has fixed several more things and actually offered me a refund for all of the trouble I’ve had. (I bought this basically the day it was released and there were lots of problems – see below.)The first thing you should know is this company has stood by their product. When I report feedback in the app, a real person responds via email and offers real assistance. In many cases they have responded with thoughtful feedback and fixes to the problems I reported. So far all of my problems have been with the app, so fixes haven’t involved the hardware itself. As of now, the app has improved tremendously. Almost all of the features work as expected. The only app bug I have now is that when you are using ounces, the little progress icons that show daily goal completion for the past 7 days are always complete whether the goal was met or not. It works properly if you use milliliters. The remaining moderate to major issue is the accuracy of the volume consumed. (More on that below.)The app, in general, is simple and clean, but offers a lot of information about the status of the device and about your kitty’s visits to get a drink. Some of the notifications are a bit much (pet hasn’t had a drink in 4 hours which is considered “abnormal” – whatever) but the notifications can be individually enabled or disabled, and notifications can be silenced based on time of day.The app will prompt to make sure things are okay if you remove the bowl for cleaning and even offer to reset the cleaning reminder if that’s why you removed it.It will also notify you if it detects that you added water.Of course you get notifications for kitty drink visits if you want those.Reminders about cleaning the fountain and changing the filter are configurable and can be set to a duration that makes sense for your situation. The operating mode of the fountain can be set to continuous or cycling on/off for a configurable time. The only real complaint keeping me from giving 5 stars at this point is that the accuracy of the water consumed is somewhat poor. The fountain is very good at detecting small visits for example even just a tenth of an ounce. I have not caught it reporting false positives nor have I seen it miss an actual drinking session. It’s clearly ignoring the slow evaporation of water over time as it should. But: I’ve tested the accuracy a number of times by carefully scooping 1/4 teaspoons of water from the flowing stream into a small bowl on a very accurate digital scale using volumes as small as 20ml to as much as 150ml. In every case the fountain is off by between 12 and 20 percent on the low side – meaning it is consistently under-reporting the amount consumed by a fair amount. (As an aside I am pretty sure my cat thinks I’m crazy for doing this. He is very curious about anything I do with the fountain and sits there “chatting” with me when I take measurements.)I have been very careful to follow the instructions with calibration, and I have even factory reset the fountain to make sure the results are the same. At this point the accuracy seems “fair” – it’s not generating crazy numbers that bear no resemblance to reality – but it’s definitely not precise. If you can live with this (I can) then I definitely recommend this fountain. I am hopeful this is something they will be able to address with a firmware or app update in the future. The Wifi setup was painless and the connection for me has been pretty good. Like almost all IoT devices it is 2.4 ghz only.It requires internet access and a cloud account to work with the app.The Wifi scale base is running on an espressif IoT chipset (you can determine this by the MAC address when it connects to WiFi) which is a powerful and widely used home automation platform for devices like this. It’s possible the fountain will be able to have custom firmware loaded onto it in the future if hobbyists in the IoT community take an interest. That could lead to the ability to run the device without the Petlibro cloud account someday. Because it is a fairly capable network device, I keep it isolated to “internet only” access on my network to be safe.As for the fountain itself, it’s identical to the other Petlibro fountains in this family, and you can read great reviews of the hardware elsewhere. For me, it’s a pretty good fountain. The only nit is that there are some tiny spots inside the pump mechanism that are a bit hard to clean.Update:Petlibro has fixed a few things with the app, and they are responsive to issues, but not enough has been fixed for me to add a star. Here is what has been fixed in the app:-Added ability to see measurements in ounces.-Resolved the “hang” issue that caused the need to force quit the app.-Resolved duplicate entries in the log that caused measures to be *way* off. Here are the current noticeable problems with the app:-The goal history indicator is broken – it always shows 100% achievement for the last week regardless of actual water consumption.-They added a “feature” that notifies you if a pet has not had a drink in 4 hours. Nobody needs this alert – and there is no way to turn it off without also turning off the “pet came for a drink” alerts.-There is no way to clear alert messages without opening them one at a time in the app.-The water level indicator is meaningless and also incorrect. If you fill to the fill line, it does not show full. Also, since this is supposed to be able to measure a few milliliters of water being consumed, is it too much trouble to actually show the remaining water volume? That would be very useful for letting users know how much water to add to top it off. Right now you have to either guess, or open the top and see for yourself. After a bit more time with the fountain, I do think there are a couple things about it that are not as good as the Petkit fountains. Specifically: The filter is less than half the size of the PetKit filter, and whether it’s the smaller filter or the larger water tray, or the plastic tank, this fountain needs cleaning more frequently than the PetKit stainless fountains. Also, the intermittent mode of the fountain should be more configurable. Right now you can only pick 5 minute increments for run time or off time. Let us pick 1-minute intervals. If my cat stares at the fountain while it’s off, and has to wait 5 minutes before it starts, he’s unlikely to get a drink. If it could be set to run for a minute then rest for a minute, that would make it much more likely for him to see it while it’s running. Instead, I have to run it continuously which is more wear on the motor and more energy.Original Review:I decided to move from a Petkit wireless fountain (which is fantastic) for the consumption monitoring. The design of the fountain is well refined, better than Petkit in some ways. The (silent) cascading fountain and very visible ripples on the stainless tray are pretty irresistible for my cat. I’ve seen him drinking from it more often so far on the first day than he normally does from the Petkit. The way this is supposed to work is that the base is actually a scale, which measures changes to the weight of the fountain. Water is a known weight per unit, so the scale detects when water is added or removed, giving a measure of how much your kitty has lapped up, as well as how full the fountain is.Theoretically it also knows to ignore very slow changes like evaporation, and only registers changes large enough to be caused by kitty drinking. This is all great in theory, but so far the app is such a basket case it’s impossible to know whether it’s accurately measuring anything. For example, the app frequently just goes into an infinite “working” state when trying to navigate the pages. Also, the app shows the tank is only about 80% full even though it was filled precisely to the “fill” line. (Even after calibration.)The app is also missing a number of features. It only measures in ml – so in the US you’ll have to convert from ounces. There is no maintenance or cleaning mode, so when you want to clean the fountain, the app will send you error notifications and you’ll have them in your log forever. There is no way to choose which notifications you want – so if you want low water and offline notifications, you’ll also get an alert every time kitty takes a drink. They are all on or all off.I get that the product is less than a month old, but at this point it’s no better than a regular wireless fountain due to the app issues.Hopefully Petlibro will address these problems quickly. If not, I’ll send this back and wait for one that actually works from Petkit. I’m sure they are working on one.
A few more features than anticipated. Got this for my girlfriends cats after the pump died in another circulating water dish. This one has an app that it links to informing you on the amount of water consumed and the current water level in the basin. I wouldn’t recommend taking the basin when you need to refill the water but rather carry a glass to it and pour that into the top when you need to refill it.The cats adapted to the new water dish immediately and seem to enjoy it. There is also a satisfying sound of trickling water when its running from the small spout.overall its great.
Quiet, kittens were curious and took to it quickly. Our 2 American Wire Hair Tabby kittens are the most curious kittens I have ever known and I have probably had 50+ in my lifetime. They love running water and this model seemed to be the most economical. I did, however, have to add protection to the power wire to the wall (conduit – see image) because they were initially more interested in that than the water…go figure. This is a temporary thing, but regardless, I’d rather have a 120v/adapter powered device than a battery powered one because of the inconvenience of having to charge yet another device in addition to the ~465 we currently have. The ‘NIGHT’ mode seems to work pretty well. I had to put it on the wood floor directly in order for it to register the water Oz weight accurately. Seems it responds to the slightest touch/vibration to engage the pump in that mode. The scale that it sits is very sensitive and registers the weight of water added or consumed pretty accurately. For $45, it’s a no-brainer. Have had those gravity fed dispensers and they get pretty slimy fairly quickly…
My Search is Over…Yours Should Be Too. This is my fourth, and hopefully final, fountain I’ve bought for my cat. This checks ALL the boxes, even those I didn’t know I needed. After 3 other fountains, I figured out what I was looking for:-Easy to clean (this was number ONE on my list)-Stainless steel basin-Quiet-Dependable company (to ensure the filters and fountains will be available to purchase down the road)I can’t stress enough how EASY this is to clean. You don’t need to unplug the device (which can be a huge headache if you want to keep the wire hidden)–you simply lift the basin off the base, which remains plugged in at all times. All of the components can then be easily cleaned by hand using the included pipe cleaner. This thing is also whisper quiet. I literally can’t hear it, AT ALL.It also looks very clean and modern. The wood finish on the base is an especially nice touch. Now, the feature I didn’t think I needed but is probably MY FAVORITE–the app. I always wondered how often my cat actually drank and would sometimes worry if I didn’t SEE him drinking. However, the app literally tells me every time he drank, how much he drank, and for how long. It even tracks water consumption over time. It’s a really great feature. Also, it tells you if you’re water is running low and can act as a reminder for when to clean and change the filters. If you’re deciding which fountain to buy, trust me, this is the one.
Good fountain. I really like this fountain. I was skeptical after reading all the reviews saying it overflowed, etc. but I’ve had no issues like that. The only small issue I’ve had, is that when the water gets really low, sometimes it doesn’t push the water up through the center as well as it usually does. All I do is fill it, then unplug and plug back in and it’s back to normal. It’s never overflowed, it’s quiet, looks nice, and works well.
My favorite water fountain for cats. I’ve purchased 5 different types of water fountains and my cats didn’t like any of them except for Catit. The Catit was cheap and made a ton of noise after using it for 3 months. This Petit fountain is so quiet and my cats love it. It’s really easy to clean because you can lift the fountain from the base which was always a chore with the Catit. It’s priced only a little bit more than the Catit, I think it’s worth it. This is far superior and made of quality hard plastic that doesn’t seem breakable. I really like the indicator for when I need to change the filter and can reset using the app. I hope it lasts!
Much easier to clean. I had an older version of this drinking fountain. My cat did very well with it, and I was quite pleased with it. After several years of continuous use, the pump went out. I ordered this version 3 months ago and I am even more happy with this one. It is much easier to clean and put back together. As a side note, I use a bit of bleach in the cleaning water for all of the internal parts except the filters. I rinse well after cleaning. I’ve not had a problem with mold in either fountain. Also, it’s important to know that you need the app in order to reset the fountain after changing the filter.
Great Idea. The media could not be loaded. Hi all, I got this fountain for my 2 cats because I loved the idea of it having a wireless pump, and being able to detach the device without worrying about ruining the whole system. I am currently on my 2nd month with this device and the water is over flowing it even leaks out of the rim which is why I also put the plate under to keep my floor from getting wet. When I first got the device it was working perfectly great and the filter gave me no issues. Once I changed the filters with the replacements is when the issue started. I have changed the filters 3x now and there is still an over flow issue. This is very upsetting because I love this fountain and my cats do as well. The value of the device is great but the simple facts its only been 2 months and its already not working is quite upsetting. You also dont hear any noise on this and the size is good. I hope someone is able to help me fix this fountain.
Did not last. bought this product less then 6 months ago and just died. Figuring what can be wrong I narrowed the same to the pump. Contact the company that sold it to me via Amazon and they directed me to Amazon Cubstomer’s service. Had chat with nice rep that basically stated that it was out of the return window and that it needed to be addressed with manufacturing company. Thankfully they supplied me with a number to call tomorrow during normal business hours. We will see where this goes. A new pump is 20 dollars. May as well get a new system from differnt company for just 9 dollars more and a warranty of 18 months.
Petlibro does it again!!!! Great water fountain with additional functions. The media could not be loaded. I bought this item during Amazon Prime Day because I wanted to replace my old metal water fountain for my cats. I read about the functionalities, and I was a bit hesitant to purchase this version or the regular version. I decided to try the Wi-Fi version because of the added capabilities. As I mentioned in the Capsule Water Fountain review, these guys are the Apple for Pets products. The packaging was nice, and everything was wrapped and or sealed. Putting it together was super easy, and once everything was in place, you just downloaded the app, entered some information, and it was all set. What I like about this device is that you can remove the water basin from the resting plate to clean it, and you don’t have to deal with cords or cables submerged inside the container, so it is very easy to clean and replenish. Within hours of installing and setting it up in the app, I got my first notification that my cats drunk some water, Yay!!!!Very cool, modern, and sleek design. Great job, PETLIBRO.PROS:- Functionality- Quality- Ease of assemblyCONS:- Potentially price in comparison to others
Silent… and great to have the app as a reminder. We’ve had a fountain for the cats for a while now but admittedly I occasionally let it go too long without a proper thorough cleaning. Figured we’d give this a shot to see if the app was going to help. While this particular fountain doesn’t have a huge stream, the cats all like the small stream it does put out from the pump. We’ve got one that prefers a bowl and I’ve found this has a bit deeper bowl than our previous one.One really big win is there’s less to clean on this one… there were a lot of nooks and crannies on the pump of our previous fountain and it was a nightmare to get it cleaned out. With this you really just need to flush the pump out from time to time along with cleaning the bowl itself. The app is handy for the filter/cleaning reminder and it will catch when the pump isn’t putting out water anymore. With this being completely silent in operation it’s sometimes easy to miss when the water stops… that is… it would be if you didn’t have a notification helpfully pop up on your phone letting you know that you need to add water. Definitely a win all around!
This is the one to get. It allows you to choose the time intervals from when it’s running , so mine is set at 10 minutes run time and 5 minutes sleep time pushed my filter life from 30 days to 45 days. I still had to change it a little sooner but it will save you money in the long run and it’s super easy to clean which I had set every 14 days but moved it up to every 10 day’s because it is so easy to do! The only draw back is it doesn’t join to WiFi only Bluetooth so I can’t check it while I’m away and I’m not taking a star away because I think they have a upgraded model that does it! Which I would get next time!We had a previous one not a PetKit though and it leaked on the floor all the time this one we are 2.5 months in and not a drop!
I live it, love how it reminds me to fill or clean it. My puppies and cat live this water fountain. I was worried my cat would not want to use it as she was used to using a howl from 2 years but she quickly adapted to it after watching the puppies use it. We hot the water fountain at the same time we got our two puppies so it is all they knew at our house. My only issue is they drink from it great but they also like to sit in it like a little sink. I gotta say it’s crazy cute to see them do it though! I love that it’s stainless steel so it looks sleek and is very easy to clean. I like Joe it has the app that lets me know with a notification on my phone if it is low on water, needs to be cleaned, or needs the carbon filter replaced. The filters last two weeks and they include 3 with it. I ordered 6 months of extra filters and it was less than $15 so great price. My only issue is that I could not get the fountain to connect to my Alexa like it said it could be to be honest I’m not sure why I would need that since the app alerts my phone and I can adjust the flow and stuff from the app. Super happy with this pet water fountain/ bowl.
Perfect operation. My cat loves it! I love that I can see how much he is drinking and that I get alerts when water is low. No issues at all. In use over 30 days.
Large water supply suitable for cats or dogs, easy to wash container. My cats like this fountain very much. It has a small silicone pop up spout like a drinking fountain, and it flows into a flat basin that they can drink from where the water is continuously moving through the filter and back out. It doesn’t make any sound hardly at all. I especially like that you can add ice cubes to the flat basin to cool the water. I keep this on a little plastic tray because my cat likes to put her foot into the water to make sure it’s there and she gets the floor wet. If you can unplug it easily, then you can rinse it wash it and refill it without much trouble. The only problem is that the cord is in the way of the pet a little bit if you have it plugged in higher up where it’s easy to unplug to service it. Regardless, this is versatile and useful and holds a lot of water and the pets like to use it.
Great fountain, highly customizable features (in app). Be careful when stringing the power cable. I bought this fountain for Sammy, our blind dog. My best friend went blind suddenly and we read that a water fountain would help him find his water bowl due to the sound it makes. This is a great product and I’m truly glad I downloaded the app. You can adjust the water flow, and at the lowest setting it’s quiet but the drip gets louder as you increase the flow. That’s what we needed and he took to it right away. Another great feature is that everything, including the filter tray, is metal. The only plastic is the pump, but it easily comes apart for cleaning. There lies the only concern. I washed everything before putting it together. Easy. When I put it together, the silicone piece on the lid popped off (see image). I continued to string the electric cable through and it scraped pieces of the cord that remained inside the hole. After all that cleaning to give Sammy his clean water, I now had to remove all the black pieces from that area so they wouldn’t fall into the water. Great product with one flaw. It would be a good idea if the manufacturer would make the hole larger so as not to have to force the power button through. I would recommend this product but make sure you can loop the electrical cable carefully through without popping off the silicone piece.
These filters work like a charm. The water is filtered nicely and my cat loves his fountain. Changing the filters is very simple and can be done quickly. The recommend filter change period is a little confusing thoughts. As in some places it’s stated every 2 weeks and in other places, it’s every 4 weeks. I choose the change it every 4 weeks and this seems perfect forUs and our cat
The best of the many fountains I’ve owned. Recommended. I have many pets and have tried several fountains but this one is the best. The receptacle holds over one gallon, and I am pleased to use stainless steel for my animals rather than plastic. This fountain keeps the water fresher than any I have used: the constant flow of water from the spout delights the cats. I have experienced no spillage and the parts are dishwasher safe! The lighted meter lets you see clearly when you need to refill and the app reminds you of when you should clean. One additional remark: be sure to place the fountain on a flat surface. I initially had it on a rug, and it did not work. I have subsequently moved the fountain to a rubber pad where it functions well. I highly recommend this item.
Gigantic Water Bowl, Who Has Cats This Big. This is marketed as a cat water fountain, and all I can think based on its size is ‘who has cats this big?’The giant gallon+ size of this container works well for us, because our family also has dogs that like to dip into the cat water, which meant we were often refilling much smaller bowls.I like the stainless steel construction, which should be nice and easy to keep clean. Our cats like the constant water flow, and I think our dogs like that there’s always water in these large bowls now. Overall I think it’s a good buy if you are tired of multiple refills every day.
Stopped working in less than a month. When it worked it was a great fountain. The price was great for a smart fountain. And the app and set up was user friendly. But, you get what you pay for, I guess, and it stopped working in less than 30 days. Maybe a blessing in disguise because in that time only 1 of my 4 cats would drink from it. Nonetheless, it was very disappointing.
Amazing, Cat-Approved Water Fountain – Easy to clean and maintain. I had a pioneer pet stainless steel fountain for about 5 years. The pump was finally dying regularly, forcing me to take it apart to get it working. When I saw this one had the power mechanism that connected wirelessly to the pump, I knew I had to try it. This fountain is so much easier to refill and clean. I am no longer messing with cables. It has very good capacity and solid water flow. Our cats love it. The filters are well priced too. We only use reverse osmosis water, which should prolong the life of the pump. The WiFi feature is also very convenient to check water levels, monitor water intake, and cleaning and filter replacement reminders. I absolutely recommend this product.
Huge and easy to clean. I don’t even use the app and consider the fountain worth it.Many wonder why you might need such a large fountain if you only have a few cats. Here is why: If you have very low humidity where you put it, indoors or outside, evaporation will drain the tank before you cats do. I have a smaller fountain that is outside on a covered porch. This summer, it would run dry when NOTHING was drinking from it.So, it is nice to have a really big tank, no matter how many cats you have.Being fully stainless steel is great too. Just take it to the sink and scrub it down to clean it. Nothing sticks to or grows on the metal.Great cat water fountain.
They love it. I got this for two dogs to use, and they love it!It was really easy to set up. It connects to wifi so I can easily monitor when it needs to be refilled. It’s stainless steel, so easy to clean too. And I like that better than plastic.I was afraid it would be annoying loud, but it’s pretty quiet. It actually gives off some nice water trickling relaxing white noise. So far, the cat is staying away from this, but the dogs love it.The only thing is that I wish the power cord was a little bit longer. Make sure wherever you are putting this has a convenient outlet.
So much easier. We didn’t have a fountain with a filter, so this revolutionized watering the cat. I thought that the smart features might be a bit of overkill, but it’s been a lifesaver, and the filter has too. It only runs the minimum to take out the hair or whatever else gets in the water, and it alerts you when the fountain is low. Those two features are totally with the price for the peace of mind that this gives. Huge fan, and I’ve recommended it to everyone.
